Vooruit

After 15 years of cooperation, Vooruit has grown into a national IT provider. With ten racks across three data centres, the company continues to expand, delivering stable IT services with Kolo.

Challenge

Scala Solutions had just started their business when they began working with Kolo 15 years ago. At the time, they were running a small start-up with just a few people. After many years of growth, the company became part of Vooruit – a national IT provider with more than 150 employees across four locations, serving clients ranging from small businesses to hospitals, insurance companies, and large enterprises.

In the early days, they simply needed rack space for client servers.

“We started small, but the growth came fast. Kolo quickly helped us scale – with more racks, more power, and more bandwidth”, says Harry Immeker, senior consultant at Vooruit.

As the company evolved, so did the complexity of their infrastructure and the demands from clients. With increasingly business-critical workloads and sensitive data, high availability and flexibility became essential.

Solution

Today, Kolo remains a core partner for Vooruit’s infrastructure. Vooruit operates ten racks across three Kolo data centres.

“We’ve had a long-standing partnership with Kolo because of the people, the flexibility, and the way they respond. It’s not about the price – it’s about how easy they make things”, says Harry Immeker.

In addition to colocation, the company leases switches, routers, and network solutions through Kolo. Their three data centre locations are interconnected via dedicated lines, enabling dual-site setups and seamless failover for critical workloads.

“Some of our clients require high availability. We run web applications that can’t go down. Once a year, we simulate a failure by shutting one site down, and the other keeps running. That’s essential.”

Vooruit appreciates the human side of the partnership just as much as the technical delivery.

“What makes Kolo special is the way they work. There’s no bureaucracy – if I need something, I just call someone I know. They’re always willing to stay late to support you — and they do it without the bureaucracy.”

Result

Vooruit has grown rapidly, both by acquiring new clients and expanding services for existing ones. The company now includes dedicated departments for telecom, Microsoft and Google integration, and a full-fledged security team.

Kolo has been part of this journey, as the close cooperation has made it possible to deliver reliable service to demanding clients.

“Kolo helped us grow. We recently had a client say, ‘We’ve been up for 380 days straight.’ That’s thanks to a stable platform”, says Harry Immaker.

He points out that Kolo consistently has shown generosity and a pragmatic approach in how they work.

“Recently, I needed a fibre connection across Amsterdam. Someone else quoted us a monthly cost for maintenance, but Kolo just took care of it. These things matter.”

Vooruit runs critical infrastructures for hundreds of businesses, with ten employees handling client queries and support tickets.

“Our customers expect things to work. So we have to work with providers who respond quickly and know our setup ­– and Kolo delivers on that.”
