Challenge

Founded in 2005, EK-Hosting is a Dutch internet hosting company specialising in complex, business-critical websites. Most of its clients are medium to large organisations that depend on bespoke hosting solutions, high uptime, and personal service.

Before partnering with Kolo in 2010, EK-Hosting went through a difficult period, switching between four or five different data centres over the span of five years.

“It was exhausting. Lots of talk, little action, and constant technical issues. Changing data centres takes time and effort, and back then, it was even harder than it is today.”

The turning point came with Kolo.

“I told myself, if I ever had to switch again, I’d just shut down the company. That’s how serious it was. But Kolo offered exactly what I needed: solid infrastructure, excellent uptime, and short lines of communication.”

Solution

EK-Hosting now operates three racks at Kolo, down from four, thanks to more powerful hardware and streamlined platforms. Over time, the company has built a loyal client base that values quality, and Kolo has supported that journey.

“At first, I relied more on remote hands. These days, with better redundancy and hardware, I rarely need them. But when I do, they respond quickly and get it right.”

Gaining physical access to the data centre is straightforward and secure.

“In the early years, security was more basic. Now there are fingerprint scanners and multi-level access control. It feels much more secure.”

The company has also implemented a custom network and hosting setup, retaining full ownership of its hardware and IP space.

“I’ve always preferred to manage my own infrastructure. The only thing I don’t control is the network inside the data centre — and that’s where Kolo comes in.”

For more than 15 years, Kolo has provided EK-Hosting with a stable, efficient, and responsive colocation environment – enabling long-term client relationships.
